SMOKE BEHIND THE BUILDING TURNS OUT TO BE WORKING DUMPSTER FIRE 6-16-11 (GO TO MOC PAGES FOR MORE)
On 6-16-11, South Palm Fire rescue was activated for a structure fire at the outlet center on wireless road at 9:43, with the caller reporting smoke coming from the building. Upon arrival 9-1-30 advised dispatch that the building was not on fire, but it was a dumpster in the rear of the building, and requested only one engine to the scene. A crew of 6 firefighters responded in engine 9-1-2 and were able to extinguish the fire within 20 minuets. Crews used one inch and 3/4 hand line to extinguish the blaze. In order to ensure the complete fire was out crews opened the dumpster and sifted through the garbage. Crews were on scene for a total of 45 minuets and returned to headquarters without any injuries.

At roughly 14:30 on the afternoon of June 14, South Palm fire rescue was alerted for a reported commercial structure at the ACE hardware store in the strip mall on main street. Upon arrival 9-1-30 was faced with a self vented fire through the number one side and roof he then alerted dispatch to re-activate South Palm for a confirmed working structure fire. Once units arrived on scene they began an offensive attack on the blaze to try to save the neighboring stores, however once alerted by the store owner of the large amount of chemicals in the building, the chef pulled all firefighters out of the structure and went defensive with both tower 4's master stream and also multiple hand lines. Crews remained on scene for 3 hours extinguishing hot spots and searching for a cause. In the end there were no reported injuries and the neighboring businesses suffered smoke damage, although the smoke damage was severe, they would be able to salvage their businesses.

Dept. News Update 5-27-11:
South Palm Frie rescue gladly took acceptance of its new deliveries today. The long enticipated and needed engines and other vehicles arrived shortly before noon. The new borns include 2 new engines and tanker from Pierce, and a new ambulance. The 2 new engines were purchased to replace the old Dash engine 2 and engine 5. Today Engine 2 is a 2011 Pierce Arrow XT PUC engine, and engine 5 is a Pierce Velocity top mount engine. Each of these engines were put into service immediately. The Tanker on the other hand replaced South Palms old International Tanker with a brand new 2011 version, although an International, it was put together by Pierce.
